Pitch content map I use with my speakersApr 22, 2023
If you're reading these lines there might be a presentation, a pitch or a talk coming up your way!
I've been working on sales presentations and pitches for businesses and startups for a while now and every time my clients get extreme results, ending up extremely happy with how they used their time on stage.
Every time we start working on their content, I have to stop them from diving into their own world first. 5, 10 or even 15 minutes is not very much time - so they all want to use it by shoving in as much about themselves in as possible. Who they are, how they started, what they offer etc... No, no, no, no, no nooooo!
Always remember - It's not about you. It's about your audience!
We use the content map, focusing on the audiences pains and gains first - that helps my speakers brainstorm the content much easier as it helps them set the frame around their audience needs and wants.
What is their current pain point? What is costing them money, taking too much time, causing too much stress?
What would they like their life or business to be like instead? What do they want to gain? Heeeey... remember your product or service is not jet in the picture! Without knowing you even exist - what do they hope their future will be like?
Then, when you've done this part right, it's time to pitch your solution by explaining it, providing proof of its value for those who overcome potential omnipresent objections or obstacles.
Lastly, give them something. Gift your audience with a specific gift they will value. It can be something simple like an invitation or a discovery call, or smth complex like a blueprint or a roadmap. Make sure your gift is valuable enough for them to be willing to take a small but incremental next step with you.
